To be safe in this time of pandemic, Fox Cottage has decided to cancel all of 2020’s summer weekly reservations. Sadly, we will miss our many guests. But the times dictate that we make the health and safety of everyone our first priority. We’ll see you all next summer!

Fox Cottage in Boothbay, Maine, though just 5 minutes from famous Boothbay Harbor with all its interesting harbor events and sights, is situated nicely off the beaten path in a peaceful wooded area. The cottage has been a beloved summer retreat since the 1950’s and is named after a frequent visitor to our winter garden. Now this quaint home and its many gardens are available to vacationing guests who seek a friendly escape from the world.

Since Fox Cottage is the winter home of a local writer and artist, the house provides guests with a more personalized Maine cottage experience. Throughout the home are warm wood-paneled rooms, large picture windows, Persian rugs, and original art. There are two nice-sized bedrooms, providing sleeping for four adults. The magical window seat in the north bedroom also doubles as a single bed, if needed. There are two full baths and full laundry. Next to the master bedroom is the study with its huge desk and a modest library of books about history, gardening, sailing, and art, plus fiction, and a slew of Down East magazines, of course! All of which is air conditioned; though we highly recommend enjoying the fresh Maine air.

Then there is the bright little cottage kitchen, intimate yet well equipped with everything guests need. The comfy living room and dining room share a large Roku TV. From there a french door leads to the back patio where guests enjoy a large propane grill, outdoor seating, and views of the organic veggie garden and woods. It is a perfect place to lounge and enjoy quiet Maine evenings, play a round of croquet, or stargaze.
